Rick tells Dryden what's up....

Photo by Rachel Philipson (Ithaca Journal)

Rick addressed the town board and spoke up on behalf of our generation. He was asked to interview with 870am and it aired this morning...no big deal. Interesting seeing the two local farmers who are up in arms about the right to do what they want with their land. A townswoman let them know that if they decide to cash in on their "lottery ticket" they will lose their ag exemptions because they will be using their property for other purposes...that shut them up. Poets, activists, stat guys, moms, dads, they all were there. We sat in the back and watched the community raise hell.

The most frustrating speaker was a man who stood up and played the passive card. "I don't care, do what you want. If my neighbor wants to ruin my drinking water, fine. Nature could dry up my wells next year and I have no control over that either." What a muppet. Pick a side and fight for it, don't bend over. Heard an ad this morning on natural gas that was "brought to [us] in part by the petroleum industry...." That alone should have you questioning the message.

More town hall meetings to come...meanwhile, make sure they're not trying to frack in your backyard.
